The New Year brings with it a multitude of possibilities for the days and weeks to come. The world is alive again to new sights, sounds, and scents. So, it was quite a pleasure to partake in a new opportunity at @mobaakaromatherapy. This unique place began in 2017 as a candle company, but has now branched out to also include diffusers, soaps, and in-store experiences to create your own unique aromas.
The store is larger than one would expect from the outside facade. It’s a deep, dark black once you make your way inside. Tall shelves to your right as you enter showcase their pre-made candle scents, often changed out for the seasons (with some standards around for a bit longer). To the left, you can find a long table to create your own candles or you can make your way to the candle bar with high top seating. This is where I found my way too.
Once checked in, I was given my blank card and asked to head to a side walk where about twelve candle scents were set along a wooden board. Near each was a card stating the scent within and also pairing note suggestions (if you are adventurous and want to add multiple). I chose a lemon and Jasmine. Once settled with my choices, I was given a small cup and dropper. Drip by drip I maneuvered the sweet smelling liquid to a small bottle and from there put into the tiny car diffuser glass container.
It was a very calming and unique experience to partake in. I was very excited to come to support this women owned and operated business. My lovely guide explained the process from beginning at the Aroma Bar to determine the scents I would like to mix together, to combining the chosen oils, to finally creating the mini car diffuser that I could then take with me on roadtrips.
